u2 385x240 Help Bring U2 Back To Boston

To all U2 fans – I’ve contacted the band to remind them that there’s a conspicuous hole in their tour schedule next summer. U2 is in Philadelphia on July 14th and their next show is at the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey on the 20th. The perfect night for a show at Gillette Stadium is on July 16 or 17- or both? A simple slide north to New England is entirely possible!

Help Bring U2 Back To BostonU2 in SpainJoin this Facebook page we’ve set up to try to get U2 to come back to New England. You help us show them love with numbers. We’ll do what we can here!

Once U2 finally comes back, it’ll certainly be a momentous occasion, if their last concert at Gillette was any indication:

U2 hopefully will be back in New England in 2011. I have tix to the Meadowlands show in July but I would prefer to only have to drive to Foxborough or Hartford as opposed to the NYC area. Coming down from the Portland, Maine area so the closer the event is to Maine the better for me especially since the Meadowlands U2 show is in the middle of the week. C’mon U2 book New England soon so that I can dump my Meadowlands tix.

Would be awesome if they played Fenway..I know it’s not a stadium but it would be better than Foxboro. Would the Claw fit in Fenway Park? LOL I am a former Bostonite living in Hawaii so if they don’t come back to Boston, maybe they would consider Hawaii again!!!? i know i am really dreaming now….

I don’t care about the parking or the long wait to exit the Stadium after the concert.

This is U2!! The best band ever.

And further more, the concert last year for me was one of the greatest moments of my life not just because I saw a fantastic concert, but I also proposed to my future wife during “With or Without You”

We actually will be getting married on New Years Day, 1/1/11!

I would love them to comeback so my fiance and I can revisit the place of our very special moment.

Come on Bono and U2! Boston is a U2 town!!

What self respecting rock musician goes on Oprah. Drink the Kool-aid. Have a nice day because it is a beautiful day, have fun at your next U-2 concert I hope you have a blast. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with us. We just disagree, it’s okay really. I hope we can, just get along.

We would all love to see U2 come back in 2011. I agree, it doesnt seem right that they are coming to NY/NJ but not MA. What are they thinking? Are they really just going to leave New England fans hanging? MAAAYBE they are going to be coming but waiting for that special moment to tell everyone? I agree with most posts about Gillette Stadium. 30 bucks to park. Thats a rip off. Last years my wife and I went to both shows. The price of parking should be included in the price of the ticket, or they should dramatically reduce the price of parking. But yeah PLEASE COME BACK TO MASSACHUSETTS!!!! I feel like we are being left out. How about a show at Fenway.. Oh and to RAY: are you serious? U2 has to be the only band out there that has been going strong for 30+ years with all original members. and who are not hopped up on crack or cocaine. Their songs have meanings to a lot of people. Its ok you dont have to agree that they are a classic rock band. thats your opinion. But you might as well accept it becuase they are a classic rock band.

Oh Sunday Bloody Sunday. Now that’s a catchy tune. How do you know their not on something Oh No is always wearing sunglasses.

      October 24, 2010 11:59 am

Sunday Bloody Sunday is about Bloody Sunday when Brittish military members shot unarmed civil rights protesters in Northern Ireland in 1972. Bono wears the sunglasses becuase of the number pictures that get taken al the time. You would too if you saw flash bulbs everywhere you went. I just dont understand why people dont like Bono. I mean this guy works his ass off for what he believes, Donates Millions of dollars and hours, and tries to get others to follow. and people just say he is whiny. Pretty much all celebrities and rock stars do the same thing for their own beliefs. All i have to say is that for a band that “Sucks” so much they really have a large fanbase that has lasted them over 30 years. IF they really sucked and nobody liked them then why do they sell out shows, and have the biggest tour in rock history with the 360 tour? But like I said, you dont have to agree, you have the right to your own opinion. There are bands that I dont like either. I never really cared for U2 until I actually paid attention to their music.

Great idea, Mr Alan! Let’s make this happen! I have been spreading the word on the U2 related groups I am involved with.

Ray
October 22, 2010 7:33 am

WHY, WHY, WHY ?????!!!!!! Puke Too, oh I mean U2. Why are they on a classic rock station. Who wants to hear a bunch of whiney Irishman. Their songs are abusive to my ears. Bono screams or whines, as far as the Edge he plays the same riff for every song. I change the channel, or shut the radio off. I know you have written a book on this durge of a band but, come on they are definitely overplayed, I hear the Puke on a regular basis within the same hour. Thirty years of Classic Rock, I chuckle in your general direction. ZLX is the main radio station I listen to, and have been listening since day one, but the play selection has narrowed over the years. The following are the Z.LX staples Stink (guess who) The Doors, Led Zeppelin, the Stones, Queen, Boston, Rush and unexplainably ACDC. As I am writing this, U2 Is now playing for the second time since I’ve been listening to K&M (click) You have thirty years to choose from why are there groups that just don’t get played at all ? Songs that are so-called lost classics should have more air time. Beef up the play list and I think you’ll get a lot more listeners.

All big stadiums have ‘parking issues’ and ‘high prices,’ so I won’t buy into that line of reasoning. I went to one of the September 2009 shows there, and Snow Patrol wasn’t ‘warmly’ received by the crowd. They’re a great band, but the audience wasn’t as ‘into them’ as they could have been. Since Snow Patrol is also an Irish band, could this have miffed U2 enough to bypass Boston this time around?

I agree that Foxboro was a mess last year. It would help a lot if there was an option of public transportation. I heard that the commuter rail goes there for Patriots games but not for concerts, and that would be crazy. So yes I hope U2 come to New England, but any other venue would be better than Gillette.

Yes, there is a gap in the schedule. Yes, Gillette has that week open. Of course they must play Gillette in 2010!! It is the best stadium in the Greater Boston area. Also, it had the best GA line of the entire 360 tour. Carter put them on the North American map. It would be a shame for them to pass us by in U2011. If any can make it happen Carter can! Carter thank you, thank you, thank you for working on this!!
Many thanks from the Mayoress of Boston.

NOT at Gillette! Not only is it a pain in the A$$ to get to, but I went last year and the sound after a certain point was HORRIBLE!! I was in tears when I left it was soooo bad. I brought a friend who is not a fan (as a result, I have to go to a Springsteen concert) and it was terrible. She still thinks they suck because the eccho and sound was so bad.

Can’t they play somewhere else?? The stadium in Foxboro is impossible to get out of and they charge too much for parking!!!!
