The rumor mill continues to churn over the highly-anticipated Van Halen – David Lee Roth reunion album, still due out sometime this year. A close friend of the band heard some of the album and had interesting things to say.
Mark Tremonti, guitarist for modern rock band Alter Bridge, spent some time with the band in their 5150 Studio to listen to some of the new material.

he recently appeared on 94.3 KILO radio in Colorado to talk about his time in the studio and the sound of the new album. He says the music is inspired mostly by early-career recordings the band dusted off for a fresh listen.
“They took what they could from all their old demos back in the ’80s and pretty much did what they could to create songs out of old ideas,” he said. “So it sounds like vintage Van Halen.”
Tremonti noted that he only heard the musical part of the album, as no vocals had yet been added. So it remains a mystery as to how David Lee Roth will sound, but based on Tremonti’s comments we can expect the music to have a very Van Halen I feel to it.
If that doesn’t get you excited as a Van Halen fan, then what will?
