Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi isn’t letting the cancer diagnosis bring him down. Since then, it’s been business as usual according to bandmate Geezer Butler.
Black Sabbath Announce Reunion at Press…
Tony Iommi didn’t exactly get the present he asked for on Christmas. Instead, he was dealt something far more serious: A lymphoma diagnosis.
To make things easier for Iommi, fellow band members Geezer Butler, Ozzy Osbourne, and drummer Bill Ward have all packed up their stuff and are currently recording in Tony’s home studio in the UK.
Butler says:
“We got the engines back up and running at Tony’s home studio. Far from being down and depressed about his diagnosis, Tony had already written the music for two new songs.”
On Iommi’s cancer diagnosis and its effect on the band, Butler continued:
“I must say it’s given us all a kick up the rump – it’s great to hear him churning out those riffs again, assuaging the ‘demon C’. Takes more than that to stop Tony. Can’t wait for you all to hear our workings – it has been great working on this stuff.”
Despite having to cancel their Coachella appearance in April, early indications and reports are leading fans to believe that their planned reunion tour will continue on as normal.
Also, Black Sabbath still plans on releasing the untitled album, produced by Rick Rubin, later this year.
