Now that Black Sabbath are reunited and making music again, the city where they originated from would like to celebrate the band’s career in a day-long tribute.
Black Sabbath Announce Reunion at Press…
In 1969, Black Sabbath formed in Aston – a section of the city of Birmingham, England.
Considering the band is now reunited and have plans to go on tour and release a new album, Birmingham city officials and their residents would like to do something special to celebrate the heavy metal quartet.
Not only that, but Black Sabbath are scheduled to headline the Downtown Rock Festival at Donington Park in Leicestershire, so officials are hoping to cash in (literally and figuratively) on the renewed interest in the band.
A document filed to the city of Birmingham in a report said:
“Black Sabbath’s reunion and their agreement to headline Download Festival in June is an opportunity we should not miss. Early discussions are taking place about how best the city should celebrate this and the council should be supporting any celebrations.”
Guitarist Toni Iommi was diagnosed with cancer on January 9th. He remains upbeat and has thanked fans for supporting him through these tough times.
To make life easier for Iommi, the rest of the band packed their belongings and traveled to England where they can record in Iommi’s home studio. Tony has even written two songs since the unfortunate diagnosis.
