• Happy birthday: Alice Cooper!
• 1969: The law firm of Eastman and Eastman was appointed general counsel for Paul McCartney in response to The Beatles’ signing of Allen Klein as manager the previous day.
• 1974: John Lennon and Yoko Ono split up when their relationship became strained from their immigration ordeal. John moved to L.A. For a time, but eventually moved back to New York and reunited with Yoko.
• 1978: The song “We Are the Champions” by Queen peaked at #4 on the charts.
• 1979: A month-long memorabilia auction began in San Francisco to benefit the Save the Whales campaign. Among the items auctioned off: John Travolta’s leather jacket from Grease, Alice Cooper’s five-foot boa constrictor, a Paul Kantner guitar, and a Cheech & Chong bong.
• 2001: Jimmy Buffett was ordered by NBA referee Joe Forte to give up his courtside seat due to the use of profanity.
