Slayer Frontman Tom Araya is Better Off Without Headbanging

For many heavy metal bands, headbanging can take its toll on your neck and spine over the course of your career. Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine knows firsthand about this and so does Slayer frontman Tom Araya.
After undergoing back surgery, Araya admits he was disappointed that he could no longer headbang. However, he feels it has made him a better musician.

In addition to talking about the band’s 12th album with The Quietus, the Slayer singer/bassist also opened up about having lost his handbanging privileges.
He said:
“I just can’t headbang. I just can’t do the things that I’d normally be doing on stage – going crazy, flipping my head. After the surgery it was a bummer, but I got over that. I like to think I’ve improved as a singer and as a player. I focus more on that, and making sure my performance is one hundred percent.”
When asked about entering the studio again, Araya said:
“We are aiming to have something down by May [2012], before the touring kicks off [over the summer].”

ToM is always going to be the best no matter what the odds are same with dave jeff and kerry absolutely! i hope tom gets a 110%recovery and perform to do what they do best and my FaitH is in each and every single one of theM! as they are and always will be the best in my heart spend more time with family in chile and same with the rest of the band take this opportunity to catch up with stuff in your lives and then upon your decisions do what you all like to do best and ring peoples heads with your wide display of authority intensity and LOUD non tolerance of DestructioN! kerry will probably work on music or spend time with his pythons LOL:P and jeff well jeff will try some new riffs and cool sounds for new titles of tracks and dave can spend time with his family his wife hahahahaa! hail to the crazy cuban and one of the BEST drummers in the world i think jeff is hilarious in his interviews especially defying what a colon is HAHAHAHAHAA!!!! kerry awesoMe guitar references on amps and your favourite guitars
