Drummer Bill Ward announced earlier this week that he’s willing to forgo the Black Sabbath reunion because he’s not getting his fair share in regards to money. Sharon Osbourne is now weighing in.
Black Sabbath Announce Reunion at Press…
After Bill Ward made his announcement, rumors circulated around the internet and music world that he would be replaced by Ozzy’s drummer Tommy Clufetos, sparking outrage amongst Sabbath fans.
A Facebook group, now over 30,000 members strong, was started in an effort to quell those talks in the hopes of getting Bill Ward back on track for a Sabbath reunion.
According to Ward, he refuses to sign the papers unless a “signable contract is drawn up.”
Of course, what this all boils down to money. It’s always about money.
Minus Bill Ward, Black Sabbath are recording in the UK at Iommi’s home, making it comfortable for him due to his recent cancer diagnosis.
Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler said of Ward’s absence:
“We have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open. We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll.”
Ozzy’s manager and wife Sharon Osbourne decided to weigh in on Ward’s refusal to sign after fans started blaming her for it.
Sharon said:
“I am not in any position to hire or fire anyone in Black Sabbath. I don’t manage the band, I manage my husband.”
If they can’t get this thing figured out, it doesn’t look like they’ll be celebrating Black Sabbath Day after all…
