The Black Sabbath frontman opened up about his bandmate’s cancer battle on his new SiriusXM channel, Ozzy’s Boneyard, and insists that Iommi has the fight and determination to beat his diagnosis.
Black Sabbath Announce Reunion at Press…
Ozzy’s new SiriusXM channel launched on Wednesday and for the occasion, Ozzy discussed the Sabbath’s guitarist recent cancer diagnosis and how he could use all the support in the world right now.
Ozzy said about Iommi:
“He needs more and more support, man. He doesn’t have a brother, he doesn’t have a sister — it’s just him and his wife and the members of Black Sabbath. So any encouragement, any support [is appreciated]. He’s gonna beat it. What it’s down to is determination and believe me, this guy’s got more determination than anybody I’ve ever met. It’s gonna be fine. It’s just one of those trials in life that happen.”
He continued:
“He’s gonna beat it. He’s got so much support, not only from each one of us in the band, but the fan base; it’s unbelievable. It’s one of them problems you have in life…He ain’t gonna die, I’m telling you. I told him if he dies, I’m gonna kill him.”
Rather than being away from home in Los Angeles, Black Sabbath (minus Bill Ward) are currently in England at Iommi’s home studio, to make it easier on him.
Drummer Bill Ward is currently in a contract dispute with the band and will not sign one unless it is “signable.”
Translation: “I want more money.”
Sharon Osbourne, wife and manager of Ozzy, is receiving considerable blame for the dispute and fired back recently to put an end to that nonsense.
Sharon said:
“I am not in any position to hire or fire anyone in Black Sabbath. I don’t manage the band, I manage my husband.”
Supposedly, the band is considering Ozzy’s drummer Tommy Clufetos if an agreement cannot be reached with Ward.
